aris's sideblog
I also write this blog.
Oh shit! This Is A Low is one of the best songs they’ve written, so it’s extra nice they went for this one as their first (as far as I know) post-reunion live performance. A bit surprised to see D.A. can still hit those high notes (he could barely reach ‘em back in the day). And G.C.’s guitar makes a welcome comeback. Here is another version of the thing recorded by a member of the audience (slightly fuller sound on this one) and here is a post-live interview.
Albatross by Public Image Ltd (1979, Metal Box):
This song is much longer than I remembered, but here it is anyway. Listen to the whole thing and get a congratulatory pat on the back from me.
Getting rid of the Albatross

Listening to The Stone Roses (1989) again today, but on speakers instead of headphones. Chose Waterfall for no particular reason. Still need to get Second Coming.

Big plans
I’m actually planning to actually update my actual blog by the end of this month. I have at least three unfinished pieces I should finalise this weekend and post this coming week. I’m also thinking of naming my blog, instead of using the default “username’s blog” title, but I’ll have to think of a good name first. I also start too many sentences with “I”, which means either that my English is kind of bad or that I’m an egotistic sonofabitch. Well, I’m not and my English isn’t too bad, it’s just… kind of awkward.
Here’s a funny thing that happened to me the other day: I had a bookstore clerk fetch me a copy of a literary magazine because I couldn’t reach it. Some sadistic bastard had put it on the top shelf, a few centimetres higher than the height my fingers will stretch to. I know understand how helpless awesome old people must feel in similar situations.
I’m going to read that magazine now, so bye.
PS: I’m posting this too-long-for-Tumblr text here, because posting it on my blog would mean I’d absolutely have to come through and post the stuff I’ve promised, or feel guilty. Tumblr is only like a half-promise, thankfully.
First in a series of funny/odd Team Fortress 2 screenshots.
In this one, a ragdoll of a Sniper is hanging by his leg.
I’ve spent quite a few 10-minute breaks on this game these past two weeks, so I’ll mention it here, although chances are you’re already familiar with it. Spelunky is a roguelike platform game (didn’t your mind just explode?) and it’s fun and its latest version can be found here.
I’d really love to see a Mac port of this.
